This is an account of a bunch of guys and how they met in a specific order…

THE GUY that plays acoustic guitar and sings a lot and writes stuff:
Page Lynch was born on January 15, 1985 and two angels sang.  He grew up believing that God hated the use of instruments in the worship of His name.  In the fall of 2002, his father brought a guitar home.  Page taught himself to play said guitar and during his first year of college, he discovered that his life-long beliefs were invalid and that God had given him a talent for writing songs that display God in our everyday lives, songs that display God’s humanity, and songs that display the love of God.  Regardless, he had planned to only write songs as a hobby, but after the very first performance of his music as a solo artist in March of 2006, a worship minister in Missouri told him, “You have a real talent that God has given you.”  Page started thinking, “Maybe this is true.  Maybe I should start developing my talents rather than burying them.”  Page decided that he needed to have a band, and he decided on the band name, Running Back to Glory. But who would play in this band? How would they get where they need to go? Why had God given Page this talent without the tools?

THE GUY that plays lead guitar and sings a teensy bit less than the first guy:

Tyson Pate was born on January 26, 1980 and one angel sang.  Tyson grew up being taught but not believing that God hated the use of instruments in the worship of His name.  After high school, he played guitar and was lead singer in the band Soul’s Harbor.  While super awesome, their scholarly paths were diverging and they went their separate ways.  Tyson went to Middle Tennessee State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Business, and he formed the publishing company Harbor Tunes Music.  At a worship session with the Raiders for Christ Christian Student Center at MTSU in the fall of 2006, Tyson and Page met.  Tyson knew that Page was an artist, but they only remained acquaintances.  At a Christian college retreat known as Gulf Coast Getaway or GCG, Page and Tyson decided to play together as a band.  It only took one practice for the two to realize that they had made the right decision.  They became great friends.

THE GUY that plays the drums and chews gum a lot:

Joe Luplow was born on July 14, 1986 and three angels sang.  Joe was an orphan adopted at a young age.  He grew up believing that God loved the use of instruments in the worship of His name.  He played drums for his church in Michigan and had been a winner of several competitions as a drummer with his jazz band.  Joe and Page met in the Fall of 2006 on a weekend retreat with the Raiders for Christ Christian Student Center from Middle Tennessee State University.  They remained fantastic acquaintances until February of 2007 when they decided it was time to play together.  Immediately, a “wow” feeling was instilled in the hearts of Page and Tyson.  They kissed Joe’s feet and begged him to be in the band.
Joe responded with an incredibly enthusiastic, “Sure.”

THE GUY that plays bass and viola and guitar…and anything else with strings:

Thomas Kinkade was born on November 27, 1987 and four angels sang.  Thomas grew up believing (but only for a little while) that God was slightly displeased with the use of instruments in the worship of His name.  Thomas has played many instruments over the years with his high school and with his blues band.  He came to Middle Tennessee State University and was roommates with Joe.  Thomas met Page through the Raiders for Christ Christian Student Center at MTSU.  Being as Thomas has always been a humble fellow, he did not tell Page that he was amazing at bass, viola, and guitar.  Eventually, things surfaced and Thomas appeared at a practice with Page, Tyson, and Joe.  They all loved him and asked him to be in the band.  Thomas replied with a mediocre, “Sweet,” which they took to mean “yes.”

Now that you know us a bit better, here is what was really going on:

Page Lynch:
Page spent a long time praying about having a band, and he took a year off from school simply because he felt God was leading him to do so. He was a very talented songwriter, but he knew that he was not enough of a talented musician to be solo.  If he had not “randomly” taken that year off, songs would not have been written, Running Back to Glory would have died along with Page’s passion (music), and the other guys, making up the group of four singing angles would not have been found.

Tyson Pate:
Tyson spent a long time praying about having a band, and at GCG, he thought of asking Page because he felt God was leading him to do so.  He decided to pray about it there, and when he was done, Page went over and “randomly” asked him to be in the band.  He felt this to be a sure sign from God and an answer to his prayers.  He would not have thought about playing with Page without GCG, and the other guys, making up the group of four singing angels would not have been found.

Joe Luplow:
Joe spent a long time praying about going to MTSU, and once he was there, he wanted to play drums with Running Back to Glorybecause he felt God was leading him to do so.Joe decided to retrieve his drums from Michigan and try out.  If it had not been for Joe “randomly” meeting Page at the Raiders for Christ Fall Retreat that year, Joe would not have played, and the other guys, making up the group of four singing angels would not have been found.

Thomas Kinkade:
Thomas spent a long time praying about going to MTSU, and once he was there, he wanted to play bass with Running Back to Glory because he felt God was leading him to do so.Thomas decided to gather his nerve and go to try out.  If it had not been for Thomas “randomly” being roommates with Joe, he would have never tried out for Running Back to Glory, and the other guys, making up the group of four singing angels would not have been found.
